Black

Black by Bart Bonte is a stylish, minimalist puzzle game where each level challenges players to make the entire screen turn black using a completely new rule. The puzzle never tells you what to do. Instead, you discover the solution by experimenting, observing patterns, and testing ideas.

Each level supports key mathematical habits of mind used in K to 5 learning. Players identify patterns, analyze sequences, apply logical reasoning, and think spatially about how objects move or interact. Although not a traditional math game, Black strengthens essential problem solving skills that transfer directly to mathematical thinking.

As learners explore how each puzzle responds to their actions, they begin to notice structure, refine their ideas, and form strategies for uncovering the hidden rule. The process mirrors the way mathematicians investigate patterns, make conjectures, and adjust their reasoning.

Can you figure out the rule behind every puzzle and turn the screen completely black?
