Go the Distance gives players a row of empty spots and a set of clues about how far apart colored pieces should sit. The job is to place every piece so each clue is true at the same time, whether the clue is a count of jumps, a numeric distance, or a visual gap.
As students test placements, they practice ordering, comparing distances, and holding several constraints in mind. When two clues disagree, they move a piece and try again, which strengthens sequencing, number-line thinking, and the habit of checking work against every condition.
PlayMath.org and the Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival have partnered to bring some of the real-world activities from the math festivals to life online. JRMF is a nonprofit that hosts non-competitive math festivals, where K–12 students explore hands-on puzzles together.
