Sums Fit

Sums Fit by Elio Landa is a strategic number-puzzle game where students move tiles around a board to make each central value equal zero. Tiles with numbers in the center are the ones that must be zeroed out, while tiles showing subtraction values on their sides can be moved and positioned to help achieve that goal. When a tile’s edge touches a numbered tile, the value printed on that edge is subtracted from the adjacent tile’s center number. Players must place tiles thoughtfully so that the combined subtractions reduce each central value to exactly zero. Through this process, students build fluency with addition and subtraction, understand inverse operations, and develop spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
